Sunflower Dachshunds
Sunflower Dachshunds
Here at Sunflower Dachshunds quality is our utmost concern. We pride ourselves on providing families with the highest quality temperament and conformation. Our dogs come from all over the country and world. Only the best dogs are chosen to be part of our program and, in turn, we provide the absolute best family dachshunds around.
I’m a stay-at-home Mom and piano teacher… I also homeschool our two kids. We are here all the time, ensuring our dogs have all the care, socialization, and attention they require to thrive in their new homes. We employ Puppy Culture with our litters to ensure balanced temperaments.
Our dogs and puppies socialize with my piano students, at our local famers market and on numerous outings. We want to share this wonderful breed with the world and show how magical they can make life. Once you're loved by a dachshund, there is no comparison.
We are continually striving to improve and show our dogs in AKC conformation events, Barn Hunt, Field trials and obedience training.
The Sunflower difference shines through in our dog’s temperament, beauty and exceptional conformation.

About English Cream Dachshunds
English Cream Dachshunds were first bred in England and can trace their ancestry to the UK, Japan and Canada. The term ”English Cream” gets used too often as a sales tactic and it is important to note that not all “shaded creams” are “English Cream”. The true English Cream is about pedigree. The only colors that were accepted by the original breeders were; shaded cream, shaded cream brindles, black and cream brindle, and black and creams. These are the main colors we strive for. Sometimes we have clear cream or dapples but we are breeding for quality and not a particular popular color or pattern. Conformation and temperament are always our first priority.
English Creams should have intense dark pigment on the nose, around the eyes, and foot pads. Most maintain a level of black shading on the ears, over the back and tail.
Shaded creams are born almost black but start to lighten within the first few weeks. Their adult coat will be fully developed by 1-2 years. Below are examples of how shaded cream’s color can change and progress.
